Alan has over 35 years of experience in senior management positions in a global enterprise, being an executive coach, a trainer and a consultant. He has a demonstrated track record of success coaching leaders to realize breakthrough results, utilizing his unique talent for disruptive/context shifting interactions. Alan brings a commitment to optimizing leadership performance and realizing professional fulfillment to each of his coaching clients. He can be counted on to bring joy to the client and the coaching process!
Prior to his professional coaching career Alan hired, trained and mentored over 100 managers and leaders. He successfully launched and grew several new operation centers for an international training and development company. He was known in this company as someone who could both design new products and processes as well as take failing parts of the enterprise and turn them into successes. His eye was always on the employees AND the bottom line.
Alan holds a Bachelor in Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Social Inquiry. He has post-graduate training and expertise in strategic design, business management and practical philosophy. He is also a trained individual and group counselor. While Alan has deep expertise in business, he is also passionate about serving international non-profits. He gets great joy from helping them realize their missions and elevating the culture of the organization.

As a manager, Alan tripled the revenue and profit within 2 years and has now coached others to do the same.
He opened up a new branch for an international training and development company in a new country and within three years the branch was the fourth largest of the over 40 branches.

Worked with a struggling business owner who wanted to give up on her business. Within a year the business was thriving (profits had doubled), the owner was enjoying being an owner and her personal life was blossoming as well. She is now considering opening up a second location.

Alan has experience coaching, training and developing people in Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He has coached and trained people while being translated into Spanish, French, German, Russian, Swedish, Thai and Hebrew. He can skillfully translate and modify his approach to be culturally appropriate and relevant.
EXAMPLES OF LEADERSHIP CONSULTING EXPERIENCE
Grant Country PUD: Public Utility Company in Washington. Alan is currently coaching several of the C-Suite members in both being more effective managers and in creating a values-based, high-performance culture with their teams of direct reports.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation: International Foundation. Alan supported the program directors of the Vaccine Delivery Team in shifting the culture to a more collaborative one and assisted the directors in developing their leadership skills. More recently, he is coaching country and continent directors in being extraordinary leaders who bring out the best in their direct reports.
Mentis Academy: Education and Training Corporation. Two-year project providing strategic planning, course development and delivery to help redesign their culture. Provided executive coaching and development for the Founder and CEO. Additionally, Alan has coached the country and continent directors in providing leadership that is not only results-oriented but people-focused as well.
REIN of Canada: Real Estate Investor Community. For over 2 years Alan supported the owners in creating a leadership team that has shared responsibilities, negotiating contracts, resolving management issues and developing the principals into world class leaders and managers.
Fossil Communications: Telecommunications Company in Alberta. Coached and consulted with the CEO / owner to become a forward-thinking leader and manager. He assisted her in turning around a downward revenue trend, have a balanced work and family life, and helped her to resolve personnel issues with grace and ease. Lastly, he helped her to position the company for a successful purchase so that the owner could pursue her passions and dreams.
New Avenues for Youth: Non-Profit Agency for Homeless Youth. Pro bono project providing executive development for the Executive Director and the Leadership Team. Over the past 2+ years, this agency has created a mission, adopted core values and is now in the process of having every aspect of the enterprise be an expression of those values.
PARSA: Afghanistan-based NGO that provides leadership training for Afghans. Alan serves pro bono as both the executive coach for the director as well as facilitating and leading board retreats and providing training for the chairperson of the Board. He is now helping them to develop a long range financial strategy and a transition process for the ED when she is ready to move on to what is next for her.
MarcatusQED: Leading International Food Enterprise. Alan started out as the executive coach for the founder of this multinational food business. After two months, he was asked to help shift the company away from a “start up culture” to a mission-driven, values-based organization that is a leader in its field. Alan provides coaching and training to key people within the business to develop themselves as highly productive leaders.
BeYoga Burien: Yoga Studio in Washington. Alan has worked with the owner / founder of this thriving Yoga studio for the past 2 years. Each year the studio has increased its revenue by over 25%. The studio now has a reputation for attracting the best teachers in the Seattle area because it is a place where people want to work. Alan worked with the owner to both create a mission-driven, values-based culture while her personal life flourished.
Essential Somatics: International Training Organization in the Health Field. Alan is the executive coach for the owner / founder of this 7 year old organization. Each year Alan has worked with the business there has been double digit growth, more time for the owner and a stabilizing of the business practices so that the owner's vision of creating a legacy is now a reality.
Boly/Welch: Employment Agency in Portland, Oregon. Alan worked with the partners and founders of this successful employment agency to smoothly turn the company over to the next generation of leaders. Through the use of two on-site trainings Alan developed and a few one-on-one coaching sessions this objective was realized.
